The SOUL Purpose of Life

Posted on Apr 6th, 2007 by Mystic : Peacemaker Mystic
Well did you know da pen
Is stronger than da knife
They can kill you once
But they can’t kill you twice
Did you know destruction of the flesh
Is not dē ending to life
Fear not of dē anti-Christ
Did you know that I
Exist before the earth
And did you know my eyes
Are window to the world
Did you know you can't go ah Zion
And ah wear jerry curls
Can't tell dē boys from dē girls
Your bodies just a vehicle
Transporting the soul
It's what's inside da people
Is beauty to behold
Fear not of evil
Every day dem flesh it grow old
Changes of the times take a toll

(Damian Marley)

What’s the point in living? Ever asked that before?

How bout, “Why am I here?” Or, “Is there really a point to this life that has been granted to me?”

There are many systems that have been created to answer those questions. What happens when those systems are inadequate to really answer those questions? Is it possible that there is only “One True Path” or “The Way” like many religions claim? If so, what religion is right – Hindu, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Taoism, Gnosticism, Tribal Religions…which one?

Which one is “The Way?” Is it possible that they all are “The Way?” What if none of them are “The Way?” What would that mean for you?

Really...answering these questions with an open mind and heart may reveal to you something that could free you from a perpetual cycle of fear and death.

As Damian Marley said, “They can kill you once, But they can’t kill you twice, Did you know destruction of the flesh Is not dē ending to life, Fear not of dē anti-Christ. Did you know that I Exist before the earth, And did you know my eyes, Are window to the world…”

Asking those questions above and listening for the answer from your soul will reveal to you that there IS only “One True Path,” but that path is different for EVERYBODY. The “One True Path” as it pertains to me is a path that is completely different than the path that you must take.

So what is Damian Marley saying when he says, “They can kill you once, but they can’t kill you twice, Did you know destruction of the flesh Is not dē ending to life?” He offers the answer a few lines later, “Your bodies just a vehicle
Transporting the soul, It's what's inside da people, Is beauty to behold…”

Is there really a point to this life that we’ve been granted? Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the illusion of life. What’s the illusion? “Fear not of dē anti-Christ…Did you know you can't go ah Zion And ah wear jerry curls…Fear not of evil…”

Fear is the ultimate illusion for fear is the prison of limitation. Fear constrains us from. Think of the last time you were afraid and it kept you from doing something you really wanted to do. Why did the fear hold you back? It was something you really wanted to do.

On that point, what is it that gives us purpose? Or, where does our motivation for life come from? Why do we feel passionate and purposeful about some things and others we could care less? Is it possible that you have a destiny to fulfill?

If you have a destiny, are you truly free? Of course, you have a choice to fulfill that destiny or not to. When we don’t fulfill destiny, or are not living a life of purpose – we feel it. Most often, we feel it with depression, anger, hate, regret, etc.

If we do walk the path that fulfills out purpose we find that there is nothing in this world that can knock us off our path except ourselves. As Confucius once said, “Out greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

The question must be asked, if we are to rise every time we fall and live a life that fulfills our purpose or destiny, where does that path lead? “Did you know that I
Exist before the earth, And did you know my eyes Are window to the world. Did you know you can't go ah Zion And ah wear jerry curls, Can't tell dē boys from dē girls.”

As Damian says, the path leads to Zion. But what is Zion, why is it that our appearance doesn’t matter and what doe s he mean that we can’t tell the boys from the girls?

First, consider what Jesus says in verse 22 of the Gospel of Thomas,

Jesus said to them, “When you make the two one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female one and the same, so that the male not be male nor the female female; and when you fashion eyes in the place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, and a likeness in place of a likeness; then will you enter [the Kingdom].”

Consider for a moment that the physical body we are all familiar with is only a “vehicle transporting the soul.” Where, then, is the vehicle transporting our soul? Wherever our choices take us! We are beings “made in the image and likeness” and in that is our free will that stems from the unconditional essence of the incomprehensible Unconditional Love that is God.

With that free will is our freedom to see life through the illusion of fear and death. Is it possible that when we see through the eyes of fear we create the fear that we see? If we do create the prison of fear that keeps us in illusion, what is the element within us that gives our ability to liberate ourselves?

Our soul! We have the choice to embrace our soul or ignore it. What would happen if we let go of all the constraints we place on “doing things the right way” to listen to the guide that leads us to our liberation? Consider that when we bring what’s within (our soul) to a place of recognition in all that we see, we are on the path to making “the two one, and the inside like the outside, the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female one and the same, so that the male not be the male and the female female.” It is the soul purpose we are here; it is why we have life. To learn what we must to reunite in the oneness of our spirit and embrace the greatness that we truly are…Or, is it?

Much Love
